With all the new space we have in the warehouse, we decided to host a Derby Girl Night. It’s basically Roller Derby and since Leslie is a retired Professional Derby Girl, she called up her old squad and hosted our first ever Elite Roller Derby DooDah! This was an exciting time for us so much so that Lupe, Kim and Elly wanted to give this derby stuff a try. But before they could start skating and bruising their opponents, each of the Derby Girls took on a new moniker.
Lots of Pain Lupe, Kick-Ass-Kim and Leg Breaker-Leslie.
Elly took the name “Lone Wolf” due to her unpredictable bruising style. She’s no one to trifle with. In fact, she’s willing to take out her own team mates just to hurt someone.

January 1st, 2011 is a big deal when it comes to high school and college baseball. It was said that the new standards in baseball bats, BBCOR would change the game forever. Some like it because it will teach players proper mechanics when batting and overall it teaches them to be well rounded athletes. But you also have the other side who do not like the change. For one, they’ll miss the “ping” sound that bats make and the other concern would be the cost. Here’s more information about the new BBCOR rules…

The Batted Bat Coefficient of Restitution measures the liveliness of the ball off the bat. The goal is to reduce the “trampoline effect” for aluminum and composite bats.
With high school baseball to begin in about a month, players and coaches are facing three issues — cost of the new bats, availability and a change in how the game will be played.
On average, new BBCOR composite bats cost between $200 and $300. A top-of-the-line composite bat can go as high as $400.
What doesnt’ make sense to us is, why pay over $300 for a BBCOR bat that doesn’t out perform a wood bat. For the price of a top of the line BBCOR bat, you can get as many as 5 new maple wood bats.

We spent the afternoon and evening at the BLD in Chino to test out some of the new Combat Bats. We invited hitters from all levels to try their hand in swinging the Combats. Though I have hours of video footage of guys hitting home runs, I narrowed it down to 2 guys which gave their testimonies about the Combat Bats.

Zach Gonzales of Northern California (NorCal). He drove in this morning with the intent of checking out the world famous Elite OC store. Once he was here, I gave him a tour of the facility.

Then I showed Zach our fancy batting cage, complete with all sorts of Combat Bats to swing.
