Happy Birthday to Jose Vega (Mr. East Coast Elite)

Well it’s that time of year again when we wish Mr. East Coast Elite, Jose Vega a very happy birthday. So I wanted to give you all a brief history lesson about Jose. I don’t know if you guys knew this, not many people do, but before he became the VP of Elite, Jose was actually a Club Promoter and DJ back in the 80s and 90s.

Who would have known that Jose was a bit of a party animal back in his youth. This info about his past all came out during dinner while I was visiting TAI NC. He went into great detail on how he would DJ at the Palladium Night Club in Hollywood. He also mentioned that he was in the best shape of his life, people would call him Lil’ Arnold because he was so buff that people thought he looked like a small version of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Now that Jose is a bit older, his clubbing days have long been gone, well technically he still goes out to party, but he’s retired from the club promotion scene. However, he’s been known to turn TAI NC into a night club on the 3rd Friday of every month. He calls it “Club TAI Sports, After Hours.” This is where you’ll see DJ “Fantasy” spin the 1′s and 2′s to the latest beats. The moniker “Fantasy” was inspired by this hit song by Johnny O, Fantasy Girl.

Behind the scenes with Uncle Bill

Many of you know, Uncle Bill starts in many of my blog posts, videos and photos. But I wanted to show a little video to give our readers a glimpse of what he does for Elite OC.

Elite OC, the possibilities are endless!

After seeing what the girls did with theirRoller Derby Night, I wanted to see if I could benefit from the large amount of space we have in the Elite OC Warehouse. With the help of World’s Favorite Uncle, (Uncle Bill) I wanted to see if I could get 3 feet of air.

We used a pallet and some totes that are normally for storing Elite Dry Fits. Once the ramp was made, Uncle Bill laid right next to the take off. Based on his expression, I think he’s done this before and considers my jump a non-event.

Take off was good air time was great and landing was fantastic.Lucky for me, I have good brakes! I nearly crashed into the newly built wall.

Like I said, the possibilities at Elite OC are endless! Where else can you watch girls punch each other while roller skating and see death defying bicycle stunts while testing out softball bats in our batting cage…only at Elite OC!

The New Derby Girls

With all the new space we have in the warehouse, we decided to host a Derby Girl Night. It’s basically Roller Derby and since Leslie is a retired Professional Derby Girl, she called up her old squad and hosted our first ever Elite Roller Derby DooDah! This was an exciting time for us so much so that Lupe, Kim and Elly wanted to give this derby stuff a try. But before they could start skating and bruising their opponents, each of the Derby Girls took on a new moniker.

Lots of Pain Lupe, Kick-Ass-Kim and Leg Breaker-Leslie.

Elly took the name “Lone Wolf” due to her unpredictable bruising style. She’s no one to trifle with. In fact, she’s willing to take out her own team mates just to hurt someone.

So there you have it, our first Roller Derby Night at Elite OC. After you’re done watching, make sure you check out our huge selection of bats and other Elite Products. Elite OC is the only Elite store where you can test out bats and watch girls punch each other out! See you soon!

Ch-ch-changes!

Inspired by the classic David Bowie song, Changes, Elite OC will be going through some changes. I can’t really get into the details as of yet. But it should be exciting. Here’s a hint.
